I acquired this instrument as part of a local sale in San Antonio, Texas. I have thoroughly inspected the guitar for imperfections, and it is as close to 'brand new' as a resale can get. It is an absolute beauty in person. As a "relic'd" or intentionally aged custom build, this guitar is an incredible homage to the original 1933 L-00 body. I have kept it as immaculate as I received it, so all of the perceived imperfections are straight from its motherland custom shop.

The Gibson Custom Shop Willcutt Exclusive 1933 L-00 is a masterfully crafted tribute to one of Gibson’s most iconic pre-war small-body acoustics, enhanced with exclusive appointments that set it apart from the standard model. This special run, built in collaboration with Willcutt Guitars, features a stunning Vintage Sunburst finish and a Fire Stripe pickguard—two historically inspired details that are not offered on the standard Murphy Lab L-00 and make this guitar a truly unique collector’s piece.

Built with a thermally aged red spruce top and mahogany back and sides, the L-00 delivers the dry, punchy tone and focused projection that defined blues and roots music of the 1930s. Red spruce bracing with hide glue construction and a compound dovetail neck joint ensure optimal resonance and vintage-correct tone transfer. The V-shaped mahogany neck is topped with a rosewood fingerboard featuring mother-of-pearl dot inlays and legend wire frets for a smooth, classic feel.

Finished in Murphy Lab Light Aged nitrocellulose lacquer with aged nickel hardware, this guitar looks and feels like a well-preserved vintage instrument. Additional features include a bone nut and saddle, open-slot rosewood bridge, period-correct tuning machines, and a period-correct hardshell case.
