Built in 2008, this Santa Cruz H13 in sunburst is a beautiful example of why the brand continues to earn universal praise from players, collectors and luthiers worldwide. Santa Cruz has long been regarded as one of the most consistent and musical boutique builders in the United States, known for their impeccable craftsmanship, light responsive builds and the kind of tonal depth that only comes from decades of mastery. This H13 shows all those qualities in spades.
The H13 model blends the vintage warmth of a small body guitar with the power and midrange presence of something much larger. It is famously versatile, loved by fingerstyle players for its responsiveness and dynamic sensitivity, and equally admired by flatpickers for its projection and clarity. The 13 fret neck join gives a little extra punch and openness compared to a traditional 12 fret design while still retaining that classic small body intimacy and balance.
This example feels incredibly alive in the hands with a quick articulate response and a sweetness through the mids that makes every chord bloom. Single note lines have a piano like focus and the low end has surprising depth for a smaller body. It is easily one of the best acoustics pound for pound we have had through PG.
The guitar is in excellent condition with only a few small superficial marks that are purely cosmetic. Structurally and sonically it is rock solid and presents beautifully with its warm aged sunburst finish.
