Selmer Super Action 80 Tenor Saxophone from 1981

For sale is a Selmer Super Action 80 tenor saxophone, a classic professional-level Selmer Paris horn, made in France.

This horn has been extremely reliable over decades of professional use, is very free-blowing, and has a great feel that makes it comfortable and intuitive to play. Its warm, focused Selmer tone makes it versatile for jazz, classical, big band, and contemporary music.

Cosmetically, it shows the wear of a horn that’s truly been played professionally around the world—dings, lacquer worn in places, and scratches from decades of gigs—but nothing that affects performance. Pads seal well, keys move freely, and it’s ready to play.

I’ll admit, I’m going to miss this horn terribly; it’s been part of my journey as a musician going all the way back to 1981. But I have multiple saxophones, and it’s time to pass it on to someone else who will hopefully treasure it as much as I have.

I purchased this horn new—right when Selmer released the tenor version of the 80 Series. It is from the batch that was newly released in 1981, making it a true vintage pro Selmer tenor that’s dependable, expressive, full of character, and with a fantastic feel under the hands.
