I have been curious about these Jazzmaster amps for some time. I bought this one on Reverb recently. Although I could get some good tones with my Gibson ES 125, for a ‘jazz’ amp, I prefer the darker vintage sound of my old Polytone Mega Brute head.

I was very pleasantly surprised when I plugged in my Strat on Channel 1. I could easily enjoy playing surf style stuff with this head. The 2nd channel is designed to yield edge of breakup tones. The video lets you hear the range the amp is capable of. The ‘Gain’ control is best used in moderation. It raises the noise floor at idle.

Overall condition is good. Some long unused pots a little scratchy. Some chips in the rear mounted speakon jack. The adapter still twist locks and makes a good speaker out connection.

These were designed to be used with the matching Fender 2 ohm 12” cab. I have no problem getting it loud enough through my 8 ohm cab to keep up with a drummer. As far as I can tell, the built in effects are the same as those in the Fender Super Champ XD amps of the same era. Tasty in small doses.

The IEC power cord and a speakon to ¼” adapter are included; no cab, no footswitch.
