Built at Burrowes Instruments in Colorado under the label “Banned Instruments,” this unique guitar features a top made from weathered galvanized corrugated steel roofing. The back and sides are made from carefully selected long-aged oak from a heavy duty forklift pallet. Original rusty nail holes are carefully preserved with a combination of CA glue and clear epoxy.

The Spanish Cedar neck, Richlite fretboard, and related parts and materials are all new top-grade material to ensure stability and playability. Nickel-silver frets are semi-hemi finished on the ends. Mother of pearl position markers, Paua abalone (from New Zealand) recycle symbol and the mother of pearl “B” logo are from the same sustainable source. The neck-mounted “Juke Shack” jazz guitar humbucker pickup has Schatten tone and volume thumb wheels under the finger rest.

This guitar is a one-of-a-kind work of art, there isn’t another like it in the world, and likely never will be. Only 4 total guitars were built in this “steel top” series – a cigar box (sold); an OM (sold); a dual-humbucker 17” 2-pickup hollow-body; and this, the last one to be built. This is the only one left, and is the only jazz guitar in the series.
