Early 20th-century Ludwig & Ludwig professional orchestral snare drum, made in Chicago in the circa 1912–1918 period. This transition piece features:

  • 13” diameter × 4” depth
  • Steel shell with single center bead and visible vertical seam
  • Pressed oval lugs
  • Single-flange “stick-chopper” hoops with clip-mounted tension rods
  • Original wing-style tension rods
  • Hoop-mounted vertical cable snare strainer, stamped“PAT’D JUN 2 08”

  • Cable snare system, correct for orchestral/tango-era Ludwig snares
  • Simple folded metal butt plate, correct to the period
