Early 20th-century Ludwig & Ludwig professional orchestral snare drum, made in Chicago in the circa 1912–1918 period. This transition piece features:
- 13” diameter × 4” depth
- Steel shell with single center bead and visible vertical seam
- Pressed oval lugs
- Single-flange “stick-chopper” hoops with clip-mounted tension rods
- Original wing-style tension rods
- Hoop-mounted vertical cable snare strainer, stamped“PAT’D JUN 2 08”

- Simple folded metal butt plate, correct to the period
