This is a custom build I commissioned with Matt and Chris of Texas Toast Guitars in Colorado.
I have included a youtube video that Matt posted of part of the build process. I have some other gear I want to commission so it is time for this one to move onto the another wonderful home. This guitar NAILS classic tones and sounds amazing crunchy and shines clean!
The idea behind this build was simple, a Jazzmaster more or less remade by Gibson, keeping true to the classic aesthetics while also nodding to sort of customized restomod (to steal a term from the custom car industry.
Here are the specs from the build:
Body Material - Honduran Mahogany with 3A Maple Quilt Top, No pick guard. Maple cap bent over
the body contour.
Neck - 3 piece Mahogony, set neck. satin finish aka their Super 76 satin.
Neck Carve / Scale - 24.75 scale. Smooth rounded Gibson radius, but not baseball bat. It's thick, but not huge and VERY comfortable.
Fret Board - Black kingwood, with block mother of pearl inlays.
Tuners / Hardware – Hipshot open gear tuners and Hipshot string through bridge. It is SUPER stable tuning wise.
Pick Ups – Dylan Talks Tone P90s with gold mesh. This was a super-limited run by Dylan. I paid $250 for these. This video really breaks down how special these pickups are. Search Dylan Talks Tone P90 in YouTube and watch his The Best P90s in The World video.
Controls – Tone, Master Vol and 3 way switch.
Jack Location – Side location instead of top. I hate jacks on the top.
Color – More or less a tobacco burst top and back.
Case - This came in a Gator Transit Electric bag, I do have a hardshell case if you prefer. This case it came in is currently $135 on Sweetwater.
