Vintage Suzuki Taishogoto Electric Keyed Zither w/ Original Case – Made in Japan

This is a vintage Suzuki Taishogoto, made in Japan and complete with its original hard case. The taishogoto is a traditional Japanese keyed string instrument — often described as a hybrid of lap steel, autoharp, and keyboard — and this example is the electric version, designed for amplification and studio or stage use.

This instrument features:

• Numbered key buttons for intuitive note selection

• Steel strings and a built-in pickup

• Onboard volume and tone controls

• Power switch and integrated tuner control (labeled in Japanese)

• Standard 1/4" output

Plugged in, it produces a wonderfully expressive, droning, and melodic tone that works especially well for ambient music, experimental recordings, soundtrack work, drone, and traditional Japanese styles.
