Klira 340 ToneMaster jazzbox, mid 70’s - affordable vintage

Wonderful ES-175 style with double Venetian cutaways. Very rare model. Great jazz box. Plays wonderfully, currently setup for gypsy jazz Pearl Django style, with flatwounds for mellow tone. Has that mojo tone from that wonderful 1970 era. The German engineerping often surpassed the American, especially after Paul started playing his German bass in the 60’s. Klira, Hofner, Hoyer all wanted to outdo Gibson. They often did.

Bridge pickup exudes a very cool (warm mid) jazz tone, neck pickup currently not in circuit. I haven’t wanted/needed to rewire, just left it alone, because I love the tone as it is. I suspect its straightforward to get it working… which may just be a minor treatment issue of the selector switch. Sold as is, with that single functional pickup. Sounds so warm with just that, I almost want to delist and rewire myself.. but am just too busy right now.

Has that multi-laminate neck known for amazing strength, as well as bottom input truss rod. Neck is very good, I have owned for 15+ years, hasn’t budged. Klira was a master of this laminate neck architecture. Adjustable Bridge is not yet at bottom. Fret wear is minimal. Side jack solid, no issues, volume functional but slightly stiff, tone pots need cleaning, selector switch currently only selects bridge pickup.

Case is the typical hard German case from the era, all latches working, handle good, some interesting metal reinforcement.. see top case view.

A steal of a vintage instrument with that wicked cool vibe, that plays wonderfully out of the box and that has the potential to be a superstar with some minor wiring work.
