This is a beautiful Gibson Byrdland from 1974, with its famously short scale length of 23.5 inches and rather shallow body that make it for many a more comfortable alternative to a Gibson L5 or Super 400, while sharing most of their specs and class. Though I’m sure if you’re reading this post, you know all of that already.
The body has a solid Spruce top and bookmatched solid maple back and sides, the neck is made of 3 piece maple, making it much stronger than earlier examples, and the fingerboard is ebony. Block inlays and flower pot insignia on the headstock make for a beautiful, luxurious guitar. The guitar is all original, with original Gibson T-Top pickups and all original frets and hardware. I have taken it to a top luthier for a full setup and the frets have been levelled and crowned, making for as best a playing shape as this guitar has ever been in. It’s in beautiful condition for its age and there are no cracks in the neck or body. It’s virtually spotless.
It’s a wonderful, wonderful guitar that sounds and plays amazing and I’m only selling due to my personal preference regarding scale length.
Pickup in London is preferred and if possible, private bank transfer.
Thank you so much. Geordie.
