EXCETRO HARLEY-1 'DASH' HOLLOW BODY - 1960s - w/HSC

Staffed by ex-Teisco artisans, Excetro was a short-lived brand that emerged in Japan after Teisco was bought out by Kawai in 1967.

Other names like Firstman, Honey and Idol also came into being through ex-Teisco employees and are generally associated with mid-range and/or export models.

In some exceptional cases very high-end work was produced at the special request of a client.

This is one of those exceptions, produced for a Tokyo music store probably in 1968-69. Very few of these were made - making this one a rare beast indeed - especially in this kind of condition.

Condition-wise...

Clearly cherished it looks entirely original.

All the hardware is of the highest quality. The chrome parts have some minor tarnishing but are very well preserved. The original roller bridge too.

Everything works precisely as it should including the electrics which are very solid with all original controls functioning well.

It's simply a beautifully built guitar that's been very well maintained.

A laminated top and back sandwiches a solid centre block. This fixes the super slim set neck along with the pickups. Body, neck and head have only very minor blemishes. Overall it's in super shape for a late-60s hollow body.

Sound-wise, under those nice chunky chrome pickup covers are single coils - versions of which can be found on a few high-end Guyatones and others. Serious jangle and then some!

After a full pro set up this now sports new strings, a great fast and low action and intonation that's spot-on. It plays superbly.

Best of all, it sounds even better than it looks. Which is saying something.

Superior build quality, meticulous attention to detail and seriously great tone.

This is a highly collectable, all-original and rare 1960s MIJ hollow body - in glorious condition.

Guaranteed to get them 60s jangle-parts all-a-tremble. And no error...
