The 2026 Martin Super D-18 introduces a powerful new evolution of Martin’s legendary mahogany dreadnought platform. Built in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, this innovative model expands on the classic Style 18 formula with a newly designed Super D body featuring approximately 20% more internal air volume than a traditional dreadnought. The result is greater bass authority, increased projection, and a wider dynamic range while preserving the unmistakable Martin silhouette.
A solid spruce top paired with genuine mahogany back and sides delivers the focused, woody midrange that has defined the D-18 voice for generations. The additional body volume enhances low-end depth and headroom, making the Super D-18 especially responsive for modern flatpicking, powerful strumming, and stage performance.
Tone & PerformanceThe Super D-18 is designed to deliver the familiar articulation of a mahogany dreadnought with noticeably greater power and responsiveness. Martin’s forward-shifted Golden Era scalloped X-bracing, similar to the bracing architecture used on the Modern Deluxe Series, allows the spruce top to move more freely. This produces strong projection, quick note attack, and excellent clarity across the entire tonal spectrum.
Players will notice deep but controlled bass, clear midrange fundamentals, and crisp trebles that cut through a mix without harshness. Whether used for bluegrass rhythm, singer-songwriter accompaniment, or studio recording, the Super D-18 provides a bold and articulate acoustic voice.
Construction & PlayabilityTraditional mahogany block construction with a dovetail neck joint preserves the resonance and structural integrity that define Martin’s American-built acoustic guitars.
