This is one of the rarest examples of a B.C. Rich you'll ever see with only one documented example of this model bass having been posted online until now. This is an EB-3 style bass that was offered by B.C. Rich during the very earliest years of the companies existence.

From the "B.C. Rich Beginnings" article from premierguitar.com: "In 1968, Bernie made his first electric solidbody using a Fender neck. This led to his first attempts at guitar production in the form of about ten Les Paul-shaped guitars and basses modeled after the Gibson EB-3." This may be be one of the first 10 B.C. Rich solid body guitars ever made and as such this may be a contender for a museum piece.

The body and neck of this bass are both solid Mahogany. The face of the headstock is rosewood. The fretboard is ebony. 30.5" scale, 20 frets.

Functionally it's in really nice shape for the age and plays quite nicely. Electronics work as expected and have been cleaned out with contact cleaner. The 4 way rotary switch is in good condition. The Gibson style tone sink works great and sounds super cool! There is a hairline crack in the fretboard towards the top of the neck but it is stable. One of the saddles on the bridge is missing a small chunk of material but luckily it's not where the string would sit so it's still usable. The Schaller tuning machines are in awesome shape and work great! This bass could stand to have a fret level crown and polish as there's some minor buzzing around the 7th fret. Nothing that can be heard through and amplifier though.

Cosmetically it shows its age a bit with some finish checking and wear that's within reason for the era. Minor blemishes on the front and back nothing that affects structural integrity though. Some of the binding has fallen off and while I do have some of the pieces that have fallen off I do not have all of them.

Includes the original hard shell case.
