Personal Thoughts:
The ’57 Les Paul Custom is pure elegance — understated, powerful, and timeless. Often referred to as the “Black Beauty”, this model represents Gibson at its most refined, pairing the authority of an all-mahogany construction with the snap and clarity of an ebony fingerboard.

Tonally, this is a darker, smoother Les Paul compared to a maple-topped Standard. The response is thick and piano-like, with excellent note definition and a strong midrange focus. Clean tones are rich and articulate, while driven sounds are authoritative without ever becoming harsh. The ebony board adds a fast, precise feel under the fingers, making this a joy to play for both rhythm and lead work.

The 2010–2012 Custom Shop era is widely regarded as a very solid period for Gibson build quality, and this example absolutely reflects that — well balanced, resonant, and beautifully finished.

Condition Report:
Excellent condition. Light signs of careful use only, with no significant marks or issues to note. Frets are in great shape and the gold hardware has aged gracefully. Case and COA included.
