This is a 1967 reissue Stratocaster from Fender Japan, E Series (made in 1987 see pencil date on neck.) It is a Left Handed model that has been flipped for right handed players who want to emulate the classic Hendrix at Woodstock look (it could easily be flipped back by moving the strap button back to the original location and re-stringing.) The E Series Fender Japan guitars were the first guitars to be made following the JV guitars and these guitars from this era in good condition are considered quite desirable.
The guitar is in very good condition, and has a surprisingly small number of dings or impressions considering its age--most of which are all but invisible in photos. There is a small amount of finish chipping on the body at the neck pocket (shown) and one more visible ding on the back edge of the body (shown). There is also a small impression on the back of the neck at about the second fret which you can feel with your finger, but which is almost impossible to feel with your hand fretting the guitar and which has no effect on playing. The neck is straight and has no buzzing issues.
The body has an Olympic White poly finish, while the neck has a thin catalyzed nitro finish (shows under black light), which was commonly used on many of these older Fender Japan strats. The advantage of a catalyzed nitro finish compared with the traditional nitro finishes most players associate with higher end, vintage instruments , is that they are harder, much more durable, vastly less susceptible to chemical interactions with various plastics (that eat into the finish) and have none of the tackiness that can sometimes occur with a nitro finish.
The neck is from attractive wood with areas of light flaming in the headstock. It has a B profile and is distinctly on the thinner side, as opposed to the beefier necks that many MIJ guitars from the 80s and early 90s come with.
This guitar ships with the case shown.
