2012 B.C. Rich Bich Pro X – Shadow – Crafted in Korea – Neck-Through – EMG 81/60 – Ebony Fingerboard – B.C. Rich Custom Shop Hardshell Case

Up for sale is a very cool and increasingly uncommon 2012 B.C. Rich Bich Pro X in the Shadow finish, from the higher-spec Korean-built Pro X era.

This is the neck-through, fixed-bridge Pro X Bich, with a seriously impressive factory specification: mahogany body, bound ebony fingerboard with diamond inlays, 24 jumbo frets, 24⅝" scale, genuine EMG 81 bridge and EMG 60 neck active humbuckers, TonePros Tune-o-Matic-style bridge with string-through-body construction, Grover tuners and gold hardware.

It is an exceptionally distinctive guitar and, more importantly, a fantastic player. I recently went through and tested the guitar thoroughly. Everything functions as it should, the action is excellent, and it plays and sounds great. The neck-through construction provides excellent upper-fret access and sustain, while the classic EMG 81/60 combination gives it plenty of output, attack and clarity.

A fresh 9V battery will be installed prior to packing and shipment.

CONDITION

I am conservatively listing the guitar in Good condition because it does show cosmetic evidence of being played, with the vast majority of the more noticeable wear concentrated on the back and rear edges of the instrument.

The front/playing side presents considerably cleaner and remains extremely striking. The distinctive Bich points and contours present very well from the front, as do the bound ebony fingerboard, Shadow finish and gold hardware.

Cosmetic wear includes buckle/rub wear and surface scratching on the back, several localized finish chips and nicks around portions of the rear perimeter and edges, and normal handling/play wear. There are also areas where the satin finish has developed some additional sheen from normal contact, and the gold hardware shows age-appropriate patina/tarnishing.

These areas have not been hidden or minimized in the photographs. I intentionally included detailed close-up photos of the back, edges and individual wear areas under direct light so a buyer can accurately evaluate the cosmetic condition before purchasing.

Despite the cosmetic wear, there are NO structural issues or repairs, and the guitar is fully functional and plays exceptionally well.

Please review all photographs carefully, as they are an important part of the condition description.

B.C. RICH CUSTOM SHOP HARDSHELL CASE

A major addition to this guitar is the included B.C. Rich Custom Shop form-fit hardshell case.

I purchased this case separately and new directly from B.C. Rich for approximately $300 plus tax, specifically for this Bich. It was not simply a generic case added later.

The case features a B.C. Rich-logo exterior, heavy-duty construction and a fantastic purple plush form-fit interiordesigned specifically around the unusual Bich body shape. It was manufactured by TKL for B.C. Rich, and the original TKL identification tag remains attached, identifying it as:

The case has essentially been used for storage since I purchased it and is in exceptionally clean condition. Given the unusual shape of the Bich, having a proper B.C. Rich form-fit case is a particularly nice addition.

The Pro X Bich was a particularly interesting period in B.C. Rich production because it combined one of the company's most unmistakable body designs with a genuinely serious specification — neck-through construction, ebony fingerboard, genuine EMGs, TonePros hardware and Grover tuners. Period coverage of the model even notes that the Pro X Bich was voted Best of NAMM in the Electric Guitars category at the 2011 Winter NAMM Show. 

This example isn't being represented as a collector-condition case queen. It has been played and shows cosmetic wear, particularly on the back. But it remains a fantastic-looking guitar from the front, is structurally solid, functions as it should, plays extremely well, and includes a valuable B.C. Rich form-fit case that I purchased separately specifically for it.

If you're looking for one of these to actually play rather than simply display, this is a particularly cool example.
