This is a killer example of Gibson’s earliest attempts to make proper vintage ’59 Reissues as they started making better guitars across the board. In 1983 they dated ink stamping serial #’s w/large size numerals w/the year being the 1st #. Its pencil’d “HDSB” for Heritage Dark Sunburst in its top pickup cavity & now faded to a beautiful Honey’burst finish over some ridiculously Fiddleback & Very Grainey Maple Top which is highly unusual in the mid-80’s. Its see-thru red mahogany finish on the back & sides of the body are minty. She’s sporting 2 pat.# stamped PAF pickups, original pots dated to the 11th week of 1985. Also sporting a nice cream pickgard, an ABR-1 nickel tun-a-matic bridge & stop tailpiece. Its Kluson Tuners hold tune well. At this time Gibson was bitched at thru the 70’s for using 2 piece sandwiched bodies, but this one having an early solid 1 piece mahogany body w/a great feeling 1 piece Mahogany neck w/its 1985 stamped serial #. She’s truly exceptionally clean & comes w/a nice original brown tolex /pink lined hard case.
