Gibson / 1957 J-45
There are two types of J-45s: slotted and adjustable saddles. This is a 1957 J-45 with slotted saddles.
The powerful tone and resonance that permeates the entire body are one of this instrument's unique charms.
"Beautiful Sunburst Color with a Contrasting Body Top and Rim"
The spruce body is finished in a beautiful sunburst color with a contrast of black and brown.
The rim has minimal fading, even among instruments of the same age, creating a clear gradation of color.
The rosette featured a single line until around 1962.
When you think of the J-45, many people think of its large tortoiseshell pickguard.
The thin large pickguard was used until around 1963 (though some were also used in 1964).
Mahogany is used for the back and sides, and the natural color matches the color of the top, giving it a warm mahogany feel.
The fingerboard is made of rosewood, showcasing its beautiful grain.
The bridge is made of rosewood.
The white mother-of-pearl dot decorations on the sides of the bridge pins add a subtle beauty.
The bridge plate is made of maple, but the bridge pin holes are repaired with rosewood.
This gives the sound a deep, resonant tone.
The neck is made of thick mahogany.
It offers a comfortable grip that matches the 42.5mm nut width, making it easy to play.
The small-sized headstock features a simple design with a Gibson silkscreen print.
The bell-shaped truss rod cover is a single piece.
A unique feature of this particular instrument is that the truss rod cover is positioned slightly higher than that of other 1957 models.
The tuning machines are KLUSON DELUXE single-line triple tuning machines.
While original, they operate reliably.
The J-45 with slotted saddles is highly popular, and this particular model is in excellent condition, with a thick bridge plate (maple/rosewood) that gives it a rich, rich sound.
