This is a hand made, hand built clone of a Marshall 1974X guitar amp, though it is NOT my own personal build.
(The guitar in the images is merely to show scale size)
The original Marshall 1974X amplifier is an iconic 1960's tube amp used in many recordings, known as a mini bluesbreaker
The main build is an 18 Watt hand populated and wired PCB, with ClassicTone transformers!
The ClassicTone transformers are highly regarded, and no longer available, so this is a $250 or more value alone, IF you could even source them. Those who are aware of Classic Tone transformers will know what I am talking about.
Power tubes are a pair of Mullard, Made in Russia EL-84 tubes.
Preamp tubes are one JJ, and then a Made in Great Britain tube.
The speaker is an Electro-Harmonix 30 Watt 12TS8 Guitar Speaker, which is perfectly matched for this amp, offering a nice, rich sound.
The amp is classic 1960's / 1970's AC / DC / Led Zeppelin record tone.
Perfect bedroom studio or recording guitar amplifier.
Amp came from an amp builder up in Maine, with this information;
This is an 18 Watt amp I made some years back.
The circuit board is the "Baby Will LiteIIb" which is a version of the Marshall 1974x.
The cabinet is made from void-free 11-ply birch. I made it to the exact dimensions of the original Marshall 1974 1x12 combo.
Sonically, the amp does a lot of things well and has a fair amount of clean headroom for an 18 Watt amp.
The goal for his amp wasn't to just make an amp, but to to make one that sounds well which is why I put so much effort into cabinet wood / dimensions.
It's the sum of its parts.
