Fender fuzz wah, the original, from the 1970s!
The pedal looks great for its age and of course has some patina and blemishes here and there (see pics).
The fuzz sounds huge (matching the pedal's size, see pics next to a 70's champ for comparison). The wah sounds delightlful. And there's magic in the treadle -- the pedal has internal strings that turn pots as the treadle is moved up and down (wah) and left and right (volume), giving you a ton of control whether you have the wah and/or fuzz engaged.
It came to me not working properly, but after some work it works perfectly. There is some volume drop when the wah and fuzz are engaged, but this is actually an original feature and can also easily be compensated for with the treadle by increasing the volume to where you desire.
The work done:
- New 9v battery connector
- electrolytic capacitors replaced
- some of the "tropical fish" capacitors replaced
- one resistor replaced
- one of the 2n2924 transistors on the fuzz portion of the circuit replaced.
Get a piece of Fender history that's build like a tank and sounds incredible.
