I am offering a Gibson '59 ES-335 Reissue Historic Burst VOS from 2020, a crafted at the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville, Tennessee (USA), semi-hollow reissue guitar model of the coveted 1959 Gibson ES-335 with top, back, and sides made of maple/poplar/maple laminate, including a solid maple center block, set-in mahogany neck with chunkier authentic '59 medium C neck profile, cream-bound rosewood fingerboard with 22 authentic medium jumbo frets and classic pearl dot inlays, two sonically versatile Gibson Custombucker Alnico III (unpotted) humbucker pickups, high-quality Kluson Single Line Tulip Button vintage tuners, Gibson ABR-1 bridge, and aluminum stopbar in a beautiful vintage burst VOS nitro finish in excellent condition, including brown Gibson Lifton deluxe hardshell case, manufacturer's papers (including C.o.A.), and professional setup with 10-gauge Elixir strings.
The ES-335 was introduced in 1958 as the first semi-hollow guitar with a solid center block, combining the tonal resonance of a hollowbody with the feedback resistance of a solid body—an innovation that quickly established itself as a classic. The 1959 reissue offered here is one of the most sought-after reissue models and offers authentic vintage specs combined with the impeccable craftsmanship of the Gibson Custom Shop.
The maple/poplar/maple body in semi-hollow construction with a solid center block offers the perfect blend of sustain, resonance, and transparency. With an excellent weight of only 3.49kg, this 2020 model is also extremely easy to handle and won't cause any back problems, even during longer sessions. The set-in mahogany neck with a rather chunky Authentic '59 Medium C profile and the bound rosewood fingerboard with dot pearl inlays also ensure an authentic vintage feel.
Thanks to the two Gibson Custombucker AlNiCo III (unpotted) humbuckers, the guitar delivers the legendary PAF tone: warm, dynamic, and assertive, from jazzy, soft cleans to rocking, powerful overdrive sounds. The classic electronics with a 3-way switch and separate volume/tone controls ensure maximum versatility.
A sound sample of the model can be found above at the end of the photo gallery.
Visually, the instrument impresses with its elegant Vintage Burst VOS Nitro finish, which, together with the nickel VOS hardware, cream-colored binding, and classic black pickguard, perfectly captures the look of the late 1950s.
