Selling one of my handmade, custom design single-cut guitars. this guitar is a double-bound, semi-hollow electric guitar, with a bolt-on neck. I used some really unique woods on this build, and am happy with how it’s turned out. See below for full list of specs:
Body wood: flamed maple
Top & back wood: curly 1-piece mango wood with slight spalting from Hawaii
Neck wood: ziricote
Fretboard: ebony. 22 medium/medium nickel frets. 10” radius
Binding: neck and body bound in solid ebony, body has a black and white checkered style wood purfling
Construction: bolt-on neck (stainless steel threaded inserts with steel bolts).
Hardware: bridge is a Schroeder top-load tele style bridge, chrome with brass saddles. Tuners are open gear gotoh with brass bushings and black buttons. Nut is black-dyed bone. Strap buttons are Schaller chrome. Black top hat knobs.
Electronics: pickups are custom wound (hand wound in USA) space llama mini humbuckers (A5 magnets, neck 7.7k, bridge 8.3k). Wiring is ‘50s style with orange drop capacitor.
Finish: satin finish from all natural oil finish and hard wax top-coat
Other build notes: I’m happy with how this one turned out, and love the wood combinations. The figure and spalting in the curly mango is gorgeous. The pickups sound great, especially with the tone rolled off and on the edge of break up. There are side dots in the binding on the neck. The ziricote neck feels very smooth, and is a fairly thin (.75-.875”) D-shaped neck, that’s a bit wider than is typical with a nut width of 1.75”. My signature open headstock design offers great tuning stability. Guitar will ship in a gator hard shell case.
There’s a couple small craftsmanship items I wanted to call out in the spirit of transparency, that are purely cosmetic, and have been adjusted for in the price. There are some small imperfections on the binding. Bending solid ebony sometimes feels like trying to bend a rock. There are couple small gaps in-between the ebony binding and ebony fretboard due to some chipping out on the inside of the binding. purely cosmetic but can be noticed upon close inspection. There are also some tooling marks in the open headstock. I like communicating all of the imperfections up front, since I like to sell as-is, and want customers to know exactly what they’re getting. The price has been adjusted for all of the imperfections.
I’ve built guitars as a hobbyist for the last several years and am happy to answer any more questions or provide whatever information I can. Thanks!
