The Jumbo Lo-Fi Tin Can Microphone is our largest model, sitting above the Original and Mini. A piezoelectric crystal converts vibration into an electrical signal, capturing raw, ambient resonance with rugged lo-fi character. Hand-built in small batches in West Texas, each analog contact mic is one of a kind. Made from a salvaged tin can and reclaimed materials, it’s built the old-school way. Beyond the core electronics, every component has been repurposed, giving each mic a pulse of its own. Made for artists who prefer grit over polish, it’s more than a microphone—it’s an instrument. The ribbed metal shell can be tapped or scraped for percussive sounds. Plug it into any amp, mixer, or DAW, where it shines when amplifying harmonica.
Features: Rugged aluminum housing with a standard 1/4″ jack, integrated 5/8″ mic mount, and a vintage denim windscreen—delivering a dirty, old-timey AM radio sound.
Jumbo: 3 ⅛″ W × 4 ½″ H
Original: 2 ¾″ W × 4″ H
Mini: 2 ¾″ W × 3″ H
Built to last a lifetime. If an internal component fails, send it in and we’ll repair it (normal wear and tear and cosmetic damage are excluded). You just cover shipping. Also, share photos of your Tin Can Microphone in action and tag @tincanco—we’d love to feature you on our socials!
