The Original lo-fi tin can microphone is our mid-sized model, positioned between the Mini and Jumbo. A piezoelectric crystal turns vibration into an electrical signal, preserving raw, ambient resonance. Hand-built in small batches, each analog contact mic is one of a kind.
Handcrafted in West Texas from a salvaged tin can and reclaimed materials, this lo-fi mic is old school. Rugged and weathered, its vintage sound reflects an age before plug-ins. Beyond the core electronics, every component has been repurposed, giving it a pulse of its own. Made for artists who want grit over polish, it’s more than a microphone—it’s an instrument. The ribbed shell can be tapped or scraped for percussive sounds, it plugs into any amp, mixer, or DAW, and excels at amplifying the harmonica.
Features: Rugged aluminum housing with a standard 1/4″ jack, and a vintage denim windscreen—delivering a dirty, old-timey AM radio sound.
Jumbo: 3 ⅛″ W × 4 ½″ H
Original: 2 ¾″ W × 4″ H
Mini: 2 ¾″ W × 3″ H
Lifetime Warranty: Built to last and backed for life. If an internal component fails, send it in and we’ll repair it (normal wear and tear and cosmetic damage are excluded). You just cover shipping.
