Very Clean mid-60's Matsumoko beauty. This bass is very clean, all original, with very little playwear and no buckle rash.

She retains the bridge cover mute which, like Fender ashtrays, are always missing. You can increase the mute amount by tightening the screw in the middle of the plate, cool for recording 'Tic-Tac' like parts. She has a single, single coil pick-up, so not the deepest tone ever but she is super easy to play with a very narrow nut width. The body is 17” wide and with the mute plate almost 4” deep. I have not been able to source a proper hardshell case for her but if I do I will edit the listing.

The back side of the headstock laminate on the bass side shows a tiny bit of separation that looks like it has been that way for a long time. See pic. Apparently a previous owner, “GP”, very lightly engraved his initials into the mute cover plate and in two places on the tail-piece. It doesn’t really read in the photos. She has a label but it was left blank at the factory so, having only seen one or two others with this body style I don’t really have a model or serial number.

She is a very rare, super cool looking, sweet playing bit of mid-60’s Japanese guitar design.
