Deluxe 5E3 CLONE with Clean and Protection Mods Narrow Panel 15-Watt 1x12" Guitar Combo

This is an amp based on the 5E3 Fender Deluxe. I included many modifications that make this amp be able to have high headroom if desired on the "bright" channel. All mods are per RobRobinette dot com. The normal channel is completely stock circuit with all the fartiness on the bass we love about the 5E3 amp. The two volumes interaction is the same.

The main tone mods are the lead channel filters out some bass early on (like most modern amps), and there is a negative feedback/remove bypass capacitor 3 way switch to decrease the distortion on the bright/lead channel.

There is a master volume (pre-phase inverter) and a 1/10th power switch (resistive load). This thing is loud enough for me with the the 1/10th power switch activated and the master volume at 1. It easily can overpower a heavy handed drummer.

The other mods are protection diodes, grounding improvements and such to decrease hum and noise. It's darn quiet.

The cabinet was made by Weber speakers in the Brown Boot faux leather (Tolex material). The speaker is the ) Weber 12A125A speaker recommended by Rob Robinette.

I've travelled (not gigged) with this as my only amp for months and it has not broken down. I'm only selling this because I started designing/building my own amps and can't have too many lying around before the wife finds out.

Mods:

Pre Phase Inverter Master Volume

Lead Channel (in Bright channel circuit) (tightens bass to reduce 'farting')

Selectable gain/negative feedback (to increase clean headroom)

1/10 power (resistive load)

Improved grounding to power/input grounds

Shielded signal wires where appropriate

Selectable tube/solid state rectification

Diode protection on tube rectifier

Standby surge resistor

The three mod switches are all tucked into the rear chassis and return the amp to stock when pushed forward. I leave it stock most of the time except for the 1/10 power load which I leave on most of the time. The only thing I'd change about the amp is the master volume still doesn't control very low volumes over a broad range, I need it very quiet at night.
