LAST CHICAGO LUDWIG
This is a mostly UNUSED 40 year old snare always stored in case. I live 30 min from the NC Ludwig Facility. This was purchased from a worker who had moved here from Chicago. I was told this was the last built in Chicago... Badge was 1984 only. Shell was apparently drilled for Blue/Olive badge and remained unused at the end of production, so became this snare.
Lugs are selected from production that had been packaged for retail. (not Supraphonic lugs) The Rims are cast ...CAST taken from retail packaging. The throw-off, hardware and etc was taken from retail packaging. Case looks professionally constructed and is "one of a kind" with a nice lining. Looks appropriate for a cherished keepsake. The craftsmanship on the case is what really sold me. This snare meant a lot to some Chicago plant foreman. I don't play, am pricing this to be affordable to someone that cares about Ludwig history. The "Suggested Value" according to Reverb(R) does not include the cast rims (These cost hundreds) or the custom case, nor does it account for the exceptional provenance...
There are a few flakes of chrome missing due to age. ...The main thing: The snare has great tone!
