Years ago I picked up these two pads that were originally from John Bock's "Fast Hands Drum Studio," founded in Elmsford, NY in 1957. Both of these pads must have logged thousands of hours of playing time with students! The black pad's gum-rubber surface has been worn to the point that it has a concave divot. I can only imagine how many students learned rudiments and played Wilcoxon solos on these two ancient beauties. There's not a lot of information on John Bock online - if anyone has any stories to share, I'd love to learn more about the history of these well-loved pads. The pads are still playable, and I've loved having their good vibes and Mojo in my teaching studio for the last several years - now it's time for someone else to enjoy them as much as I have!
