Up for sale, a 1959 Gibson Les Paul Junior in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. An ideal example of a late ‘50s Double Cut Junior, this Les Paul features a hearty 1958-sized “baseball bat” neck carve and a relatively low wind P-90 at only 7.4k ohms, offering a bit more dynamic range and treble detail than most Gibson winds from the latter years of the ‘50s.
With Honduran mahogany body/neck construction and a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, this Junior is balanced, warm and lively acoustically, qualities which translate faithfully through the P-90. The pickup is notably smooth and open-sounding, with great treble attack, rich midrange bark and focused low end punch. Lightweight at 7lbs 2oz, this Les Paul Junior benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The headstock shows signs of a previous and very well executed repair, with a thin mahogany veneer added to the back of the headstock (only visible under blacklight), and a stinger extending beyond the edge of the veneer. The original serial number has also been re-inked in the proper font.
The gloss Cherry nitro lacquer finish is otherwise 100% original, with an extremely rich, uniform shade of red that exhibits subtle lacquer checking. Extremely well-kept, there’s only a bit of shallow buckle worming central to the back and a few small dings on the top and body perimeter. The nitro gloss on the neck profile is smooth and clean, with a few shallow finish chips along the edges of the fretboard (fret 5 on the bass side, frets 3 & 5 on the treble side) that have been buffed smooth and are virtually imperceptible to the palm.
A modern black tolex hardshell case is included.
