Harmony Roy Smeck Concert Uke

This Harmony Roy Smeck Concert Uke dates back to the 1940s and it was one of the four top of the line ukuleles made by Harmony of Chicago, along with the “Harmony Deluxe,” the “Johnny Marvin Professional Tenor, ” and the “Roy Smeck Vita Uke” models.

It has a spruce top and mahogany back and sides and is finished in brown sunburst with double white bindings around both the top and back and six pairs of position marker dots on its rosewood fingerboard.

Despite it being called a “concert uke,” it is in fact soprano sized with a scale length of 13 inches and a total length of 21 3/8”. It will fit in a soprano sized ukulele case.

This instrument was well used in the past and has the usual finish crazing, stable cracks, scuffs, nicks, and boo-boos you’d expect on an instrument that is more than 80 years old. At some point in the past the bridge must have come loose and rather than simply regluing it, screws were used to secure it.

The instrument plays fine.

It comes with a vintage case and is strung with Martin fluorocarbon strings.
