Large Lot of 12 Various Zildjian & Sabian Cymbals. Vintage & Modern. 14”-22”
Please read the list below for what is included and the condition on each. I am a band director that has accumulated these over the last 15+ years for use with my ensembles. The are no longer being used, are heavy, and are in my way! I’m trying to downsize my “hoard” and attempt to recoup a bit of what I’ve spent out of pocket on this stuff.
A couple disclaimers:
- I am an oboist. Lol. As a band director I know what I want to hear from percussion, but the intricacies of the equipment itself are something that I have relied on my very talented percussion staff for over the years. My percussion knowledge has limits especially with things like the history of vintage cymbals - not a clue. I have done my best to describe these, and they are sold as-is.
- I do not know the weight of any of these cymbals, nor do I have a way to weigh them. My apologies. Please do not ask me for the weight because I will not be able to give it to you. I am very happy to answer any other questions.
- Some of these I purchased new, some used. While in my possession they have been loaned out to responsible high school and college students and used under my supervision. They have been used in high-performing, tightly run programs. Used but not abused. They have primarily been used in a concert band setting. A bit in jazz. I believe I used the titanium ride for a couple marching shows in a pinch, but only for about a week.
- Please do not ask me to purchase individual cymbals. I want to sell them together, as a lot, to get rid of them all at once. I realize I could get more by selling them individually, but frankly shipping them is a pain and I just want them out of my way. My loss is your gain - hopefully this is a great deal for a percussionist or program that wants a large lot of cymbals. Maybe I can save some poor band director from paying a fortune like I did 🙃
- These will ship via FedEx ground. They weigh a TON and will need to go in large box. Shipping by rates are quite high right now, particularly for heavy and large items. This is the reason for the high shipping cost - I have no control over it.
With all that said, please read below for details on the 12 cymbals and two bags included in this lot. Please ask any questions that you have (except weight!). Altogether $3000+ in cymbals.
Please check out my other listings for more cool music gear! :)
Included in this lot is:
1. Set of two (2) 16” Zildjian ZBT Turkish “Band” crash cymbals. The cymbals have almost brand new tan leather Ziljian handles. These were rush purchased new for a performance and used in an advanced HS wind ensemble for about a semester. Over $200 new.
2. Zildjian ZBT 18” Rock Crash Cymbal. Overall great shape, hasn’t seen a ton of use. Some finger prints and grime that could be polished if desired. Signs of wear around the mounting hole from use (see photo). Huge pointed sound. Almost $200 new.
3. Zildjian ZBT 18” China Cymbal. Overall great shape with no cracks or splitting. There is evidence of the use on the rim (some small dents, not fleabites ). HUGE sound. Even patina. $160 new.
4. Vintage Avedis Zildjian 18” A Concert Band Cymbal. Great shape with no cracks or splitting. There is a leather handle on this cymbal - I used as a suspended cymbal from a loop. Great dark, complex sound. Even patina. Not sure of used price, I bought it used. Selling used for around $150
5. Zildjian 20” ZXT Titanium Medium Ride Cymbal. Great overall condition. There are two very small dings in the edge - These are very small, about the size of a pencil eraser. They do not affect sound and could probably be removed if you wanted them out. Great vibrant, sparkly sound. Some finger prints. Selling for almost $400 new.
6. Vintage Zildjian 20” Medium Ride Cymbal. 1970s-1980s(?). Great overall condition. The bell on this seems to be a little higher than more modern cymbals. Looks like this was played in the OSU band at some point in its life, which is pretty cool! Great sound, dark but versatile cymbal. Even dark patina - could use cleaning. I purchased used, but looks to be selling for almost $400 new. This one seems to move around and I could never seem find it when I wanted it. May be haunted. Probably. Goodluck.
7. Vintage Zildjian 22” Medium Thin Cymbal. 1960s-1970s. Excellent overall condition. Very straight, little wear to the kid tin hole. No cracks. Wonderful sound - big dynamic range, dark, full, crisp. Even dark patina all around - could use cleaning. Apparently the old 22” are hard to find in good shape. Honestly I have no clue - used it in a concert band setting and I can tell you it sounds great. Appear to be selling for $400+ used.
8. Vintage Zildjian 22” Deep RideCymbal. 1960s-1970s. Excellent overall condition. Very straight, little wear to the mounting hole. No cracks. Wonderful sound - great clarity, great ping. Great, even dark patina. Very grimy - needs cleaning. Apparently also hard to find 22”deep ride - again I really don’t know about that side. I bought it used. Used in concert band setting and sounds great. Appear to be selling used for $300+
9. Sabian Hand Hammered HH Viennese 18” Viennese cymbal. Excellent condition. This was rush purchased new for a performance and used in an advanced HS wind ensemble for about a semester. I used it for a specific piece on prepared timpani and a little bit as a suspended cymbal. incredible sound, very nice instrument. I believe I paid something like $400 new.
10. Set of two (2 - top and bottom) Zildjian ZHT Mastersound 14” Hi Hats. Excellent condition. Very little use. These were used a bit for HS jazz band, but primarily in a concert band setting for some pieces that called for hihat that would carry across a large ensemble. Really nice instruments - incredible crisp, clear, sound. It carries without being brash. These cost me a fortune new - something like $700. My loss is your gain.
11. Two (2) Cymbal bars that everything will come in. The larger is 22-23” and is in pretty rough shape with tears and missing zippers. The smaller Zildjian is about 18-19” and padded. It is in decent shape with no tears and the zippers working fine (although the taps are gone). Nothing real fancy, but they will work to ship the cymbals in.
