A highly regarded flat top in the Martin product line, the D-35 would be introduced during the 60's and feature a 3 piece back - a way for the company to utilize smaller pieces of Brazilian Rosewood. The model would become popular for flat pickers, offering up a nice healthy robust tone - and the guitar would live on for some time - each example unique in its grain structure - this one showing off some nice Indian rosewood that has nice depth in its grain.

Sonically this is a very nice flat picker guitar - suitable for a singer songwriter or a bluegrass player alike. Coming to us in good condition - the neck is in nice shape, the saddle slightly lowered in its life, but in no dire need for a reset. The top shows a fairly standard pickguard crack, but otherwise is in healthy condition. This flat pickers cannon features what we love and expect from these guitars - warm and booming tone.

Picking wear is present in the top, north of the pickguard. As previously noted, there is a crack present beneath the guard. Mild nicks dings and checking is present in the finish, but it is structurally stable. The back and sides have very vibrant rosewood that is nice and light in color. The back shows a fair bit of buckle wear, but again appears structurally sound. The binding is well preserved with hardly any shrinkage. Original rosewood bridge plate appears in good condition with an added slab of rosewood present. A Fishman under saddle pickup has been added.

The neck is nice and comfortable with a medium C profile - that has slightly less "shoulder" to it, nearing a soft V. The profile measures .87" thick at the first position and about .98" at the ninth before the curvature of the heel. It has a 1 23/32" nut width. The ebony fingerboard is clean - the frets with non problematic mild wear present mainly on the trebles between the open position to 7th fret. Action is very low and playable measuring about 5/64" in height at the twelfth fret on the sixth string, and about 4/64" on the first. Original Martin stamped tuners present and function as they should. This model at this time did not have an adjustable truss rod, but it does have a T bar reinforcement under the fingerboard - that said there is some standard "fall off" at the fingerboard extension.

Comes with replaced later issue Martin case.
