This is a 21” Constantinople sold by Zildjian from 1999 - 2005. The Constantinople is generally considered to be a line that was designed to sound like one of the old K rides usually found in a pawn shop. Through extensive hammering and changes to the bells and contour of the cymbals Zildjian replicated the old K sound and advanced by varying weights, etc.
In 1999 they developed the ‘Big Band’ ride. It is a little heavier with a large bell and made at the “in-between” size of 21”. It has enough volume for Fusion, Rock, Country, Gospel, and anything else while still maintaining the darker aspects for complexities of Jazz.
Please listen to a recording of this cymbal below. Use over the ear headphones for the most accurate sound.
