For sale is an authentic late-19th century Salvador Ibáñez classical guitar, built in Valencia during the desirable “Bajada San Francisco 23” period (c.1897–1905). This is a clean, original example with no visible structural repairs, original finish, and the characteristic Valencia-school construction details.

Construction & Materials

  • Spruce soundboard (fine-grained, crack-free in visible areas)
  • Rosewood back and sides (period Spanish/Brazilian rosewoods used in Ibáñez’s shop)
  • Ebony fingerboard
  • Original bridge with intact tie-block mosaics
  • Original bone saddle and nut
  • Traditional Spanish heel (“slipper foot”)
  • 7-fan bracing pattern
  • Wooden friction pegs, original

Condition

This guitar is in exceptionally clean condition for its age.

  • No visible top, back, or rib cracks in the photographed areas
  • Finish is original
  • Bridge and saddle original, no signs of a reglued bridge
  • Fingerboard and frets clean and healthy
  • Neck angle and setup are great, plays amazingly
  • Interior is clean and undisturbed, with the typical workshop pencil number "37" on the heel block

It is structurally stable, plays perfectly as-is, and would also make a superb collector-grade example.

Label

Authentic Salvador Ibáñez label (Lith. Hijas de Pablo, Valencia), marked with the Bajada San Francisco 23 address — placing production between roughly 1897 and 1905.

Included

A period wooden shipping/storage case stenciled “FRÁGIL.”
(Not a fitted case, but a historical curiosity that came with the guitar.)

Sound

Clear, direct, and lightly voiced in the traditional Spanish manner — quick attack, balanced mids, and beautiful projection.

  • No cracks
  • Desirable Ibáñez workshop period
