Hey there! You are looking at a 1972 Gretsch Chet Atkins Country Gentleman Semi-Hollow Electric Guitar w/OHSC!

Gretsch Chet Atkins Country Gentleman guitars have an incredible reputation for their expert craftsmanship, design, rich tone, feel, and much more! Country Gentleman high end guitars and if you aren't already familiar- I urge you look up the endless reviews for yourself and give them a read! There's nothing not love with these guitars, and the one we have for you today is up for an incredible price. Now about this guitar; This is a 1972 Gretsch Country Gentleman. Older 1960's Country Gentleman didn't actually feature real sound holes, as it was actually just painted to look like F-holes. In this 1972 model however, they are actually real and the rich tone you get with this guitar, even before you plug it in to an amp- are amazing! This guitar features it original case which is a nice bonus, but you may have noticed from the pictures provided that there is a lot of patch work done on the front of the body. This guitar has a unique history which I have been able to track and it's very interesting. In the 1970s this guitar was in it's original state, however at some point this guitar was brought to Lynn Ellsworth, who modifies and build custom guitars. Lynn worked for some of the biggest names you'll immediately recognize such as Wayne Charvel, Grover Jackson (Charvel/Jackson Guitars respectively), Jim Warmoth (Warmoth Custom Guitar Parts) David Schecter (Schecter Guitars), Bernie C. Rico (B.C. Rich), Paul Hamer (Hamer Guitars), Randy Zacuto (Mighty Mite), Floyd Rose (Floyd Rose Inc.) and pickup designer; Seymour Duncan. After parting ways with Jim Warmoth, Lynn continued to make guitars under the Boogie Bodies brand for stars like Eddie Van Halen, Eric Clapton, Roger Fisher, Bobby Cochran, Jerry Cantrell and numerous other legends of rock n’ roll. This 1972 Gretsch Country Gentleman was at one point equipped with 3 TV Jones Humbucker pickups which are an alternative to the original Filter'Trons this guitar is made with. There is debate online where many people believe the TV Jones humbuckers to actually be better than Gretsch Filter'Trons but that is up for debate as many pickup and guitar enthusiasts favor the Filter'Trons- regardless they are high end pickups nonetheless that work amazingly well! This guitar then switched owners and the last owner (who we acquired this guitar from) decided to restore this guitar to it's original, stock, state the best he could- and this state is what the guitar is currently in for you today! The middle humbucker was removed and the body was patched accordingly. The wiring harness is all original, hence the patchwork by the knobs. All of the non-electronic parts are original except for the truss rod cover on the headstock. Original tuning machines, original Bigsby bridge, etc... The pickup in the bridge position is an original Filter'Tron, however the neck position pickup is one of the aforementioned TV Jones humbucker. Both humbuckers work very well together and this guitar sounds outstanding! Now in it's (somewhat) original state, this guitar plays just like any other, if not better than, Gretsch Country Gentleman Guitar. The exterior is very clean of wear, the neck is straight, the action is excellent, and the intonation is spot on perfect. There is little to no fret wear apparent. The only imperfections really apparent on this guitar is the patch work. The patches are sturdy and well done and don't affect the functionality of this guitar at all. Please view pictures provided for a better look at the condition. This guitar weighs 8lbs 3oz. It's astounding instrument all around and is sure to impress so please don't miss out on this great deal!

Rated a 7 on the condition scale based on exterior condition and functionality.
