Up for sale is a vintage C.G. Conn Victor New Wonder Cornet – Model 80A, a horn with real historical significance and classic Conn craftsmanship. This model was produced from 1914–1939 and features the early slide rod mechanism and micro-tuning wheel design that made the 80A a standout in its era.

Condition

• Fair overall condition – the horn would benefit from a good cleaning and polish.
• Small ding as shown in the photos.
• Missing the 1st slide kicker mechanism — this does not affect playability, it simply removes the extra slide-adjusting feature originally included on the model.
• Valves and slides move, and the instrument plays well for its age.

Model Highlights

This 80A cornet incorporates two important patents:

• Patent #1,218,057 (1914): Innovations in the slide mechanism allowing quick change to the key of A by pulling the main slide while extending all three valve slides.
• Patent #1,240,177 (1914): Conn’s famous micro-tuning wheel, enabling fine adjustment that players still appreciate today.

Featuring a large 0.484" bore, this early design was originally marketed as the “New Wonder,” later updated to “Victor New Wonder,” and finally known simply as the “Victor.”
