Its 16-ply shell construction (4 mahogany | 8 maple | 4 mahogany) pairs the dark, woody character of mahogany with the projection and brightness of maple, offering a balanced tone that works across genres.
With its softer 30º bearing edges, the 6.5x14” emphasizes body and low-end presence over cutting attack, producing a fat, warm backbeat with plenty of dark undertones. This snare delivers a big, rounded sound that sits perfectly in live and studio settings alike.
Finished in a striking gloss lacquer, it comes equipped with Tilco manganese steel snare wires, 2.5mm triple flange hoops, and Gretsch’s newly designed Full Range Throw Off & Butt Plate for smooth, reliable operation.
