1964 Jazz Bass

This bass came to us from the family of the original owner. With the exception of five screws it is 100% original. No repairs have been performed other than cleaning and conditioning the fretboard, cleaning and polishing the frets, and performing a setup.

The only modification was the thumb rest being relocated to the bass side. No holes were added. The thumb rest was secured with one screw in an existing pickguard screw hole. The bridge cover screws, one pickup cover screw, and the thumb rest screws are not original. Both 12th fret markers are missing.

Original solder joints. Original controls function as designed. Pot's date to the 10th week of 1964. Neck stamp reads February of 1964.

There is some fret buzz in a few areas due to the heavy fret wear. However, it's extremely playable, especially considering the amount of play time it has seen. The bass sounds amazing and the neck feels perfect with the natural wear you can only get from countless hours of playing. Comes with non-original, but period correct Fender case.

Legend has it that this exact Jazz Bass was used in Rick Hall's FAME studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama in the 60's. The original owner played this bass several hours daily, sitting in with some of the big names that came through the area (Lynyrd Skynyrd, bass was present in the Studio during their recordings). This is a great chance to own an unaltered early Jazz bass with tons of mojo built in.
