Description

For sale is a vintage Masaru Kohno (河釁 賢) classical guitar, custom made in 1965 in Japan and hand-built by one of Japan’s most respected classical luthiers.

Masaru Kono guitars are highly sought after worldwide for their exceptional craftsmanship, warm and balanced tone, and strong projection. His early handmade instruments from the 1960s are especially rare and collectible.

This guitar comes with *the original named paper label visible through the sound hole and includes the original hard case for protection.

*the original named paper label written in Japanese reads: “I made this for Mr. Toshio Murakami. 1965 Masaru Kohno” with his red signature stamp

This is a vintage instrument, over 60 years old, and shows natural cosmetic wear, small scratches, and aging consistent with time. Structurally solid and still plays beautifully. No major cracks or repairs visible.

Guitar Condition (Excellent conditioned guitar)

Playing very well with 3.5mm and 4.0mm@12F string height (Yamaha NS110 set)

Frets have very little wear from normal use but plenty left (Dressed, crowned and polished for you to play)

{The guitar has play wears and imperfections as below} 

  • Pick marks, small dents and play wear on body top, sides and back
  • Back of neck have some play wear and many capo markings-see photos
  • Fret board has some play wear at lower fret
  • Stains inside the guitar (I have cleaned as much as I could for you)
