This vintage 1980s MIJ Yamaha Recording Custom SD-980 8×14" snare is a true one-off custom, finished in hand-painted Japanese floral artwork over its original black lacquer. It's in beautiful, near flawless condition.
The photos really don't do this drum justice. Everyone one in the shop was drooling over this snare after we cleaned it up.
6-ply all-birch shell, original high-gloss black lacquer with hand-painted floral artwork. Yamaha Recording Custom lugs, triple-flanged steel hoops, and Yamaha vertical-action professional throw-off.
Serial Number: NL-0823
Its tone profile has massive low-end, focused midrange punch, and controlled overtones.
