The M-Audio FireWire 410 is a compact, legacy FireWire audio/MIDI interface that offers a versatile 4-input/10-output configuration, known for its solid sound quality and low-latency performance at its price point. It is primarily available on the used market today.

Key Features and Specifications

Connectivity: Uses a FireWire (IEEE 1394) interface, featuring two ports for daisy-chaining other devices. Note that it's not hot-pluggable and requires the computer to be off before connecting/disconnecting to avoid potential damage.

Inputs/Outputs: Provides 2 analog mic/instrument inputs with phantom power and a 20dB pad, 2 analog line inputs (for a total of 4 inputs), and 8 analog line outputs. It also includes S/PDIF digital I/O (both coaxial and optical) and 1x1 MIDI I/O.

Audio Quality: Supports 24-bit recording resolution, with sample rates up to 96kHz on all I/O simultaneously, and up to 192kHz stereo playback on the first two outputs.

Monitoring & Control: Features a built-in DSP mixer and software control panel for flexible routing, ultra-low latency software monitoring, and near-zero latency hardware direct monitoring. It has two independent headphone outputs with their own level controls.

Portability: Can be powered via an external 12V DC power supply or a 6-pin FireWire bus connection (4-pin ports do not supply power).
