This is a great horn. I used it for a month while I was working on my main alto. It comes with a professional mouthpiece and gig bag.

Not just "serviced", this horn was completely disassembled, cleaned, repadded, overhauled, adjusted, and rebuilt from top to bottom in 2025. Barring it being dropped, crushed, or otherwise mistreated it should not need any major work for many years. Regular minor checkups/maintenance is always recommended. Remember to keep your instrument dry and clean inside and out.
In my opinion, this is a *real* Yamaha student saxophone. What do I mean? This is from when they still made them in Japan. The YAS-23 is the gold standard of student saxophones. Don't take my word for it; ask a technician, teacher, musician. Even most new Yamaha student saxophones are made in countries where the labor is cheaper (not yet as skilled) and using subpar materials now. Hinge tubes (especially the Low C and Eb) tend to bend or torque on the newer student horns Yamaha makes causing keys to bind or stick. Always look for the "Made in Japan" engraved in the body below the thumb hook (near the model and serial numbers).
At this price it is cheaper than renting for two years. This horn should get most any student through high school. If you decide to upgrade someday or it's not being used anymore this horn will hold its value better than Chinese, Indonesian, Taiwanese, or any other student model saxes.
