The Firebird was light years ahead of its time when it was launched in 1963 and has long been the first choice of musical pioneers who want to set new standards in style and sound. This radical guitar with a reverse headstock was designed amid the chrome and tailgates of Motor City Detroit by renowned Duesenberg car designer Ray Dietrich, forged on the workbenches of the old US Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, and has proven itself on rock and blues stages around the world, earning its undisputed “classic” status... even after it was removed from the Gibson lineup in 1965 because it was simply too hot for a conservative guitar scene.

This limited edition of 500 gold-on-gold special editions for the 50th anniversary of the Firebird offers all the defining features of the model designed by Ray Dietrich with a range of modern details for comfortable handling and authentic Firebird sounds. The solid mahogany body offers an incredibly comfortable weight of 3.2kg, promising comfortable handling even during long sessions. The continuous 9-piece mahogany/walnut neck transmits the sound—typical Gibson—excellently with incredibly long-lasting sustain, and thanks to the slim Slim Taper neck profile, almost any playing technique comes easily.

The guitar already sings acoustically, and once it's plugged into an amp, it takes a moment to recover from the sheer power of the Firebird sound. This is thanks to the two Gibson Mini Humbuckers, which provide the right tones for almost any musical style between blues and rock: Powerful double-coil sounds in the best PAF tradition, which enable a lively response with a brilliant high-frequency spectrum. Thanks to their nuanced dynamic response, the Mini Humbuckers also react perfectly to the playing style, so that every riff and lick is expressed powerfully.

This Gibson Firebird is in mint collector's condition and technically flawless. Visually, if at all, it shows only the finest superficial wear (see pictures). The frets are like new.
