Vintage TAMA Superstar / Imperialstar Omni Sphere floor standing tom stand - 1980s

Vintage 1980s TAMA Superstar / Imperialstar Omni-Sphere double tom stand.

These were made in Aichi, Japan, in the 1980s when Tama were arguably at the top of their game. Original vintage Japanese Tama hardware is still some of the best there is, and much of it still outpaces modern gear. Their build quality was fantastic, and this is a great example of it.

Condition is very good, I haven’t used it for around 20 years. You can hang any pair of Tama rack toms from these Omni-Sphere stands - 8” & 10” , 10” & 12”, 12” & 13”, or a pair of concert toms - and if you set the stand low enough it will take larger toms also.

The ball sockets are super solid, the memory locks are present, the stand base still has most of the original Tama sticker on it, and the wing nuts all have the Tama logo on them. So it’s probably mid 80s rather than early 80s, at a guess.

The bottom part of the stand could use a little polish, but otherwise everything is clean and sound.

These Omni-Sphere floor standing double tom mounts are quite rare now. I can’t recall the last time I saw one of these for sale. You might see later models on Reverb, but sellers are asking hundreds of dollars for them. If you’re in the EU, don’t miss this one - they’re hard to find now.
