Personal Thoughts:
The 60th Anniversary R9s from 2019 are widely regarded as some of the best modern Les Pauls Gibson has ever built — exceptional tops, ultra-accurate neck carves, and the best sounding Custombuckers to date. The Green Lemon Fade finish on this one is outstanding: a soft, vintage-correct fade that looks far more like an authentic late-’50s burst than a modern flame showpiece.
These guitars also feature the special diamond anniversary emblem in the switch cavity plate — unique to 2019 and a nice collectible touch. Tonally, this R9 delivers everything you want from a true ’59 reissue: open mids, woody bloom, beautifully clear top end, and that addictive, dynamic “chew” under the fingers.
If you want the most vintage-accurate feel without stepping into Murphy Lab territory, the 60th Anniversary line is the sweet spot — and this example is a prime one.
Condition Report:
Excellent. Very light stand-related staining beneath the neck joint — purely cosmetic and minimal. A few tiny handling marks consistent with gentle home use. Frets, hardware and VOS finish all remain clean. Includes the full Anniversary case and COA.
