AMPTEK GE Pre - Dual Channel General Electric Germanium Console Preamp

A two channel reproduction of the preamps found in solid state General Electric germanium consoles of the early 1960s, these GE Pre preamps utilize a combination of current production and new-old-stock Tung Sol germanium transistors and vintage Tamura "JapaNEVE" input transformers from 70s Yamaha PM1000 consoles, resulting in a fantastically warm, colored preamp capable of providing rich harmonic enhancement. Interstage gain control allows users to push the Class A output stage and dial in level, warmth and asymmetric clipping for tonal variation, while the output control allows for channel fader style control for avoiding clipping an interface or other inputs as high levels are reached. Standard Pad and Polarity flip on the input before the input transformer.

Designed with the mentality of a studio tech - handmade and handwired using through-hole components, with each preamp housed on an individual preamp card using an EDAC edge connector for long term reliability and serviceability down the road. PSU is a Hammond power transformer and linear regulated supply.
