DOD SR430QX dual-channel 15-band graphic equalizer — 2U rack-mount, two independent channels of 2/3-octave EQ on ISO centers, 12 dB cut/boost per band, 50 Hz low-cut filter per channel, ±6/±12 dB range switch, input level controls, and bypass switching per channel. DOD's SR-series rack EQs were workhorse units for PA, studio, and live-sound rigs from the late 1980s through the 1990s; the "QX" denotes the constant-Q filter design that DOD marketed as smoother summing behavior than non-constant-Q peers. Made in the USA by DOD Electronics Corp (Salt Lake City, Utah), later folded into the Harman group.
Sourced and listed by Malinow Audio. I have not bench-tested this unit beyond a basic visual inspection — that's disclosed up front so the buyer can decide. Sold AS-IS as a working-or-needs-service rack EQ at a price that reflects that.
---
What I have verified hands-on:
- Visual inspection only. The unit is a complete SR430QX with no obviously missing knobs, sliders, or chassis parts visible in the photos.
What I have NOT done:
- No power-on test on my bench
- No signal-passes-through test, no per-band frequency response sweep, no per-channel level/bypass verification
- No DeoxIT / fader cleaning pass
- No internal inspection, no cap check, no calibration
Cosmetics: See the two photos for accurate representation. 2U rack panel with the standard DOD silver-on-black cosmetic of the era. Buyer should review photos for any wear they care about — what's in the photos is what's shipping.
Comp band (Reverb): Active Reverb listings for the SR430QX currently range from $45 (Good, untested) up to $99-120 (Excellent, working confirmed). Recent listings in Good / unverified-working condition cluster around $65-75. At $75 this is priced as a working-or-needs-service Good-condition unit — open to offers, especially from buyers comfortable with bench work on a 30-year-old rack EQ.

A note about used electronics:
All known issues are listed above. This unit is sold AS-IS, AS-DESCRIBED, with full disclosure that I have NOT power-tested it. It will not be sent in any condition different from what's described or photographed.
Common considerations for any 30-year-old rack EQ:
- Sliders can be scratchy from dust ingress — DeoxIT FaderLube is the standard fix
- Bypass switches can develop intermittent contact — typically clean with DeoxIT or replace
- Electrolytic caps in 80s/90s rack gear may benefit from a recap if drift becomes audible
- Chassis grounding screws can loosen — re-torque on the bench before rack mounting
If you want a guaranteed-working-and-aligned rack EQ, this is not that unit — those routinely sell for $100-130 from sellers who've actually tested them. This is priced to reflect the lack of bench verification.
