This Martin 00-18 1922 Acoustic Guitar is a very special instrument for us at Vintage Guitar World. In fact, it is one of these guitars that continually rekindles our passion for vintage instruments. Few guitars demonstrate so clearly how an instrument that was once truly at the end of its life can be brought back—and even elevated—to its careful restoration.

The aged Adirondack top displays the classic golden hue that only authentic vintage wood can achieve. But what truly captivated us was not just the craftsmanship—it was the sound. This reborn granddaddy is so resonant that it almost seems to have a natural reverb built in. It is lively, open, expressive, and incredibly inspiring to play.

Condition & Details

This instrument is a vintage player guitar, modified and repaired throughout its life but fully stable and wonderfully playable:

• Fretboard inlays are not original
• Repairs and wood patches on the sides
• Numerous crack repairs across the body
• Finish appears to be original, with only touch-ups around the repaired areas
• Received a neck reset
• Equipped with new frets for excellent playability
• Plays exceptionally well, with low action and a straight neck
• Currently strung with Elixir Phosphor Bronze 10–47

The Martin 00-18 1922 Acoustic Guitar is not a collector’s untouched original—it is an extraordinary player’s instrument, a piece of early guitar history restored with expertise and musical sensitivity. Its tone and responsiveness far exceed what one would expect from an instrument of this age.

Because of the repairs and modifications, we offer the guitar for a price less than half of the normal market price. It comes with a newer case.
