This listing is for a vintage Phase Linear 400 solid state power amplifier (~200 watts per channel) in excellent working condition. It came from a previous owner who used it as his main amp with high-end speakers and demoed it for me before I purchased it. I have cleaned it inside and out and tested it in my own system. It is a strong, clean, original Phase Linear 400, and it includes the original Phase Linear factory box.

🧼 Condition

• Faceplate & cosmetics: Very nice overall for its age with typical light wear. No abuse, no big dents, no rack rash. Lettering and panel markings are intact and present well.
• Chassis & internals: Clean and tidy inside. I gently dusted and wiped but did not repaint or try to hide honest age or patina.
• Controls & connectors: All front-panel controls and rear-panel connections worked properly in my testing.

Overall, I would describe it as excellent functional condition and very good vintage cosmetic condition. ✅

🔊 Function & testing

• Powers on normally and plays loud, clean, and punchy.
• Tested at normal to moderately high listening levels with speakers over an extended session.
• Both channels are strong, even, and stable – no dropouts or cutting in and out during my tests.
• No obvious hum, buzz, or crackling at normal listening volume in my environment.

This is a high-power vintage solid state amplifier, so if you plan to drive it hard on a daily basis, I always recommend a professional checkup for peace of mind. As of now, it is working very well in my system. 🎶

🛠️ Service / originality

• Internally, it appears largely original. I do not see evidence of a recent full recap or modern protection board.
• The previous owner used it regularly with expensive speakers but did not provide a detailed service invoice.
• Under my ownership, I have not performed a restoration or modification – only careful cleaning and functional testing.
