Limited to 165 pieces, the Distortion Filter D312A combines classic hard-clipping distortion with a powerful band-pass filter. It’s the latest pedal in the Obsolete Devices series, where Great Eastern FX grab some weird and wonderful vintage components from their stash and let their imaginations run wild.

The Distortion Filter is built around a trio of Soviet-era germanium pulse diodes, part number D312A. Set up for asymmetrical clipping, these unusual NOS diodes deliver complex and dynamic break-up with a uniquely expressive, almost vocal quality to the mid-range.

To enhance this even further, Great Eastern FX decided to add an analogue band-pass filter. With controls for not just Frequency but Depth, you can add subtle tone-shaping emphasis or pulverise a specific frequency into submission.
